Örnek sözcüklere bakalım, yine Türkçeye aşina deyişlerle karşılaşacağız: compress; depress; espresso; express; impress; imprint; oppress; oppression; pregnant "convincing, weighty, pithy"; press "push against"; pressure; print; repress; reprimand; suppress... Çoğu 'press' > bas ile ilgili. V-p-b değişimleriyle ile Türkçe 'vur' ve 'ber' de zaten doğrudan bağlantılı.
